Whew! It was a great, fun, and rewarding weekend at the art show in Brentwood. I was booth #55, surrounded by fantastic artists who were so friendly and kind to me...the "freshman" Across from me was Amy Crews, who was the featured artist at last month's Knoxville art show. Frank Baggett, one of my great teacher/mentors was next to her and on either side of me were Emily Little and David Nichols, last year's feature artist. Let me tell you, I listened to every bit of advice they gave me! See the cute little table top I made for the corner and the painted director's chair to match? There were so many great conversations with the shoppers and fellow artists and several more paintings went off to new homes. One important thing I am learning about art shows is the "success" of a show is not the number of paintings sold...true, that is an important part, but for me there are two other very important ingredients: fellowship & comraderie with other artists and art appreciators AND growth in art/show/business knowledge and networking. So it's three slices of a pie and if 2 out of 3 are there then it's been great.
On an unrelated side note: Get a load of my new glasses...Warby Parker. I'm a progressive now, I guess :)

You are downright prolific! They look wonderfully arranged and I wished I could climb right into the photo! It sounds like a fun experience! I had noticed your smart new specs! Very nice!

Hello! My name is Wendy and I am passionate about oil painting! Whether in the studio or out in Mother Nature, I get lost in the experience of capturing on canvas the moment and the feel of what I am painting. I pour my love and energy into every single piece of artwork and I hope it shows! This blog is a place where I can use words to talk about art, painting, life, faith, things that make me laugh, and things that inspire. I love every response, so don't be shy about leaving a comment...Archives
