In 2015 I was inspired by a couple of darling photos and found myself painting puppies: I know you've seen all these before. Here are the ones you haven't seen: Rip & Scout...2 sweethearts that I was commissioned to paint in December/January. It was challenging and so much fun to try to capture their dear doggie hearts and create something beautiful for a special client. It seems that I always have something new to learn, which can be quite intimidating! The solution for me is to plunge forward, stay courageous. When you are viewing good art, think about the hours and hours of learning, practice, fails, restarts the artist has no doubt waded through. We are not born experts at anything! Passion and perseverance guides me forward.
Thank you for taking time to view my art!

I did not paint plein air this year in Mexico. I certainly need the practice and experience, but this year I decided to take the first week off and enjoy our vacation with friends. The second week I pulled out paints and pochade box and painted from photos of Tennessee, little mini paintings, 4x6, to frame and put in our Spring Small Treasures art show. I intentionally constructed the paintings with careful value choices, color notes, lines of composition...all good exercises of lessons learned. Here are the 5 paintings still in the state I left them in after a single session of around one hour. I will give each of them a little "tickle" to correct a few things and make them read better (like the deer in the middle one), but I want to preserve the loose, spontaneous feel of them as little images of lovely Tennessee. And here are the finished pieces: 4x6 + 2" frames; all ready for the Small Treasures Spring Show, April 15-May 15 @ Sumner County Visitors Bureau, Gallatin, TN! THANK YOU for viewing my art!!

Hello! My name is Wendy and I am passionate about oil painting! Whether in the studio or out in Mother Nature, I get lost in the experience of capturing on canvas the moment and the feel of what I am painting. I pour my love and energy into every single piece of artwork and I hope it shows! This blog is a place where I can use words to talk about art, painting, life, faith, things that make me laugh, and things that inspire. I love every response, so don't be shy about leaving a comment...Archives
