My favorite subject matter are the secret places where the simplicity and hidden beauty speaks to the soul and hints of God's presence among us. It may seem like I have a wide range of subject matter, but if you look closely you may discover a common thread of quiet peace (with an occasional bit of whimsy)
Perched at the top of a very steep hill in Mazatlan is a beautifully preserved building that once was a military observation post. Restored and furnished with period pieces, it was my inspiration for several paintings. I know it sounds crazy to do a painting of a shelf on a wall, but I couldn't resist recreating my impression of the layers and textures and an interesting collection of old bottles and books.

This little girl in the tutu ran up and climbed onto the Malecon wall to gaze at the ocean waves and inspired more than one painting out of me; as did the open wooden doors of the Carriage House at Kilohana Plantation.
