After all the crazy dog paintings, I thought it was time to attempt a cat. This is Abel...beloved kitty of my sister/brother-in-law. He is a teenager, which is different for a cat than a human. More senior-citizeny than adolescent. He is a good guy, helpful in the garden. Of course, I had to use a photo reference due to the unpredictability of his willingness to pose. There is always something new to try to paint even after several years of artistic endeavor. Yesterday I painted my first peony! It came out a little more purple than planned, but I don't mind at all since I'm thrilled it actually looks like it's supposed to. I may try glazing it with pink after it dries. Adventures in art!

I am so happy to report that my art can now be found at Davis & Co Mercantile...an artsy eclectic boutique worth the drive in Portland, TN!! Several of my "Tennessee" paintings and a couple of chicken paintings are gracing the walls of this awesome store. Lisa, the owner, finds such interesting merchandise, much of it from New Mexico, and displays it in such a creative way. I am honored to have my work included!

Hello! My name is Wendy and I am passionate about oil painting! Whether in the studio or out in Mother Nature, I get lost in the experience of capturing on canvas the moment and the feel of what I am painting. I pour my love and energy into every single piece of artwork and I hope it shows! This blog is a place where I can use words to talk about art, painting, life, faith, things that make me laugh, and things that inspire. I love every response, so don't be shy about leaving a comment...Archives
